Why Desktop Alert?
Passion, Proven Success, Unrivaled Feature Capability and Price
Do a search on the
internet using these keywords and you will most likely find a plethora of sites
using them as a self-serving endorsement. So how to know if there is any punch
to the claim? We will attempt to express our meaning below to the best of our
ability.
Passion
Desktop Alert arrived
to the market based on predecessor technology and prior first-to-market products
which are now part of what makes Desktop Alert all that it claims to be. That
is to say that Desktop Alert was a culmination of several products which
preceded it as opposed to a business plan for a new emerging widget/technology
slated for commercial opportunity.
In 1998 our founder
founded the
first-to-market SDK for the customization of affinity based internet browser
applications via Custom Browser Inc. This was an exciting product and
at the time many ISP's and corporations utilized our custom browsers to exact
control of the browsing session as opposed to utilizing the common internet
browser. Results were spectacular for about 3 years and we created and sold
dozens of hybrid internet/intranet-based internet browsers for both Internet
Explorer and Mozilla based-browser requirements. In 1998 Microsoft awarded
Custom Browser its' Business Advantage Award. An archive of that event can be
seen
here. A sample of one of the many custom browsers shipped can be
seen
here.
In time, industry
gave way to a preference for highly advanced web-based applications which
removed the need for a client application installation and custom web-browsers
were suddenly hard to substantiate from a price point perspective. A usage of
the CustomBrowser.com
domain now points to Desktop Alerts website. One of the most notable provisions
of the customized browser was that of the dynamically managed custom browser
TOOLBAR. Thus, once the custom browser market became quiet our founders
launched Custom Toolbar Inc.
Usage of the
Custom Toolbar
domain now points to the Desktop Alert website. Again, Custom Toolbar was a
first-to-market SDK whereby anyone could quickly manufacture a dynamically
managed Internet Explorer and/or Mozilla-based toolbar by simply offering a
opt-in download/install link on a website. If you are familiar with companies
offering toolbars in a browser, you can thank or yell at Custom Toolbar for the
offering. At the time we were contacted by the Microsoft Toolbar Division in
Texas and told, "Your SDK for toolbars has created quite a stir with our
engineers. We are calling your toolbar Custom COOLBAR". WOW! We were
absolutely astounded that Microsoft had called us and said such a thing! Maybe
we'd finally found the product that would bring in the revenue! NOPE. In short
order, nefarious toolbars were proliferating the market place and secretly
deploying trojans, adware, malware, spyware and keystroke loggers. Suddenly,
toolbars were on every spyware and virus list on earth. That was the end of
Custom Toolbar Inc.
While we were never
heaped into the spyware category, people avoided affinity toolbars at any cost
and with good reason. That's where things got really interesting. A toolbar
client of ours asked us if we could have a button on a custom toolbar we created
for them FLASH in the event that a trigger event had occurred in a back-end
database. i.e. Something that when clicked would spawn a browser to a web page
enumerating the details of the event (offer, news, sponsored advert etc.). So
we quickly added that functionality. Then a week later the client then asked if
it were possible to have a alert window arise from the taskbar rather then rely
on the client to click on the flashing toolbar icon. i.e. The client wanted a
way to guarantee the alert was seen by the end-user!
BAM! Desktop Alert
was born. That was then and that is now the passion which carries Desktop Alert
into the future. Based on predecessor technologies developed by our founders
over a decade Desktop Alert was discovered. You'll not find a more passionate
and compelling story anywhere as it relates to Desktop Alert Technology then
that of our story. We live, breath and prosper on a set of events and
technologies that actually happened, make sense and connect the dots in
confirming to YOU who we are, why we are and where we are going. In
addition to the above, our founders also launched the first
XMPP DOD approved instant messaging platform worldwide for the Windows
platform. More information at this technology is located
here!
Proven Success
Desktop Alert emerged
in beta format in 2002. Our news
links provide a chronological list of events which illustrate our growth,
innovation and industry gestation and acceptance. Initially, Desktop Alert was
released as a opt-in internet centralized solution. Sales were slow! The
offering was literally years ahead of the market. But that all changed in time
and with good reason. Unlike many other first-to-market enterprise-class
solutions Desktop Alert was designed embracing a industry-agnostic approach. As
a team we decided early on to conceive and build a solution that would serve all
industry with an intuitive Enterprise-Class Cross-Platform alerting Platform.
Initially we had planned on a tremendous corporate response. But that did not
happen. What did happen was a total surprise.
The U.S. Military
Google'd for a "desktop
alert" solution. Apparently, mass notification to the military desktop
became a serious contender and viable enterprise solution. In 2006 Desktop
Alert was quickly
procured by McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey and then subsequently by
Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. These were organic leads! There
was no active marketing strategy to target the military. This corroborates our
industry agnostic claim. We had no lobby groups or retired military consultants
pushing our stuff! Desktop Alert was embraced as the best solution at the best
price. What subsequently took place was that the U.S. Military literally
pioneered and became a trendsetter in the gestation and adoption of mass
notification to the desktop. The results have been nothing less then
spectacular as accolades stream in from military agencies who have piloted and
procured the Desktop Alert Mass Notification Platform. No longer did the need
for GI Joe like enterprise applications take the forefront. The military
demanded a solution that was capable of adapting to changing times, changing
requirements and limitless extensibility and expansion.
Desktop Alert was and
continues to be the innovative, adaptable and affordable
technology which met and continues to meet the needs of the United States
Military during the most challenging of times where unified information sharing,
accurate, concise and quick information dissemination can literally mean the
difference between success and failure of critical communication in a rapid
fashion. Proven success at Desktop Alert is evident by virtue of America's most
prestigious military organizations decision to utilize Desktop Alert for mission
critical notification and communications. Desktop Alert has been chosen by more
U.S. Military installations then any other mass notification-to-desktop
technology industry-wide.
Unrivaled Feature Capability
Desktop Alert offers
bar none the most advanced and most intense set of features available for mass
notification to the desktop industry-wide. Aside of all of the usual and
customary requirements of sending alerts to Desktops ( AD integration, audit
trails, reports, alert cancellation, alert scheduling, audio-visual alerting,
centralized and/or decentralized administration, unified command and control
structure) Desktop Alert has upped the ante by providing the absolute first to
market streaming video, XMPP DOD secure Instant Messaging and cross platform
extensibility to the Windows, MAC and Linux market share. i.e. Nobody is left
out. Search high and wide and you will not find another Enterprise-Class mass
notification solution that can make this claim. As a team we are innovative,
poised for any challenges and staffed with a
management team which
can meet and exceed the requirements to do so.
